Brimin
Lodge prides itself on producing and maintaining an extensive forestry
program.
There is a yearly expansion of plantings, with favoured species
being Spotted Gums (Eucalyptus maculata) and Sydney Blue Gums (Eucalyptus
saligna). Trees are pruned to a height of 6.5 metres, with the ultimate
produce being beautiful, high quality saw logs. Logs from thinnings
are used for rustic rail fences.
The plantation is made up of six hectares of plantations and single
row plantings, each planted on irrigation ‘check’ banks.
During summer, the trees are irrigated with water that has been
pre-used in the Murray Cod fish barn. This not only helps to save
water, but fits in with the Brimin Lodge philosophy of self-preservation
and conservation.
