Simon and Philippa have farmed Brimin Lodge for 30 years and love to share their 150 ha piece of paradise on the Murray River with others. Just the two of them live here now, along with our sheep dogs Jimma and Missy, horses Yarraman and Torch, Goa the peacock, chooks and geese, and mobs of sheep, kangaroos and emus. They have a passion for native wildlife and biodiversity and work that in with farming activities, agroforestry, and holiday accommodation. They love travelling and meeting travellers, and recently spent 2 years volunteering on a farm in Ethiopia.

Our Story
Wildlife
Brimin Lodge is proud to be an accredited Land for Wildlife property which ensures that planning and development of the property is carried out to achieve positive environmental goals.
The goals are determined in the property Whole Farm Plan and Environmental Management Systems criteria.
Over 150 native birds and animals have been seen and recorded at Brimin Lodge, making up an extensive wildlife register. You will no doubt spot many of these beautiful creatures on a leisurely stroll through the bushlands.
The vegetation itself at Brimin Lodge is also impressive. Remnant growth on the property has been protected, and understorey replanted. Five kms of Murray riverfront have been fenced and revegetated with indigenous species including Silver Wattle, River Redgum and River Bottlebrush.
An area of the property is also protected under the Bush Tender Property.

Farm Forestry
Brimin Lodge prides itself on producing and maintaining an extensive farm forestry program.
There is a yearly expansion of plantings, with favoured species being Spotted Gums (Eucalyptus maculata) and Sydney Blue Gums (Eucalyptus saligna). Trees are pruned to a height of 6.5 metres, and are now producing beautiful, high quality saw logs from selective harvesting. Logs from thinnings are used for rustic rail fences and firewood.
The plantation is made up of ten hectares of plantations and single row plantings, each planted on irrigation ‘check’ banks. These trees provide shade and shelter to the farm and are a haven for wildlife. Selective harvesting for milling is carried out with stumps managed for regrowing.

Farming
The farming at Brimin Lodge is mainly a dryland operation.
Sheep are run on the property and crops including faba beans, field peas and triticale grain are produced depending on the season.
There are usually around 300 ewes on the property producing prime lambs which are finished on lucerne and fodder crops.
